: Episode 1 — Finding Answers in Nature—— Hyung-ki Park, CEO of MIMETICS

“The Chinese Dream of Korean Entrepreneurs” is an in-depth interview program produced by People’s Daily Online Korea.
The program aims to convey the genuine voices and aspirations of Korean entrepreneurs who have already invested in or are seeking to enter the Chinese market. Through their entrepreneurial experiences, it provides valuable insights for future participants and promotes deeper economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between China and Korea.
The guest of this episode is Mr. Hyung-ki Park, CEO of the Korean startup MIMETICS.
As a technology company built on the philosophy of “Finding Answers in Nature,” MIMETICS develops innovative skincare and medical solutions by mimicking microscopic structures found in the natural world.
In the interview, Mr. Park introduced the company’s core technology — a non-invasive negative-pressure patch inspired by the suction cups of octopuses.
This breakthrough has been published in Nature and is protected by about 70 global patents. It enables rapid and deep transdermal delivery of active substances, setting itself apart from traditional cosmetic and medical methods.
Currently, this technology has entered the Chinese market through collaboration with Korean cosmetic brands.
Looking ahead, MIMETICS aims to expand into more application fields and establish deeper partnerships with Chinese brands and research institutions to create greater shared value.
Reflecting on his entrepreneurial journey, Mr. Park candidly shared that the company went through a difficult strategic transformation. However, it was this decisive change that paved the way for today’s technological success.
As a pioneer, he believes that young technology-driven entrepreneurs should focus on what the market truly needs and strengthen their capabilities through partnerships—only then can they stand out amid fierce competition.
