Mimetics, a bio-inspired skincare solutions startup (CEO: Hyung-Ki Park), announced on the 29th that it is accelerating its expansion into the Chinese market, leveraging its core technology: a non-invasive transdermal delivery platform inspired by the micro-structure of octopus suction cups.

Mimetics was recently selected for the promotional platform of People’s Daily Online (人民网), one of China’s most influential media networks. This recognition provides the company with a major opportunity to strengthen trust and expand strategic connections in the Chinese market.

Rooted in nature-inspired nano- and micro-structural design, Mimetics has developed a non-invasive micro-vacuum delivery technology that mimics the adhesive mechanism of octopus suckers. This platform enables active ingredients to be delivered deeply, rapidly, and efficiently into the skin without causing damage.

The foundational research behind this technology was featured as a sole-authored publication in Nature (2017), and supported by over 50 SCI-indexed papers and approximately 70 global patents. With this scientific foundation, Mimetics entered the market even before the global surge of the K-Beauty trend and is currently advancing second-phase product launches through collaborations with major Chinese beauty brands and raw material suppliers.

“The true value of technology is proven when it earns the trust and choice of consumers in the market,”
said CEO Hyung-Ki Park.
“Our octopus-suction-based non-invasive delivery platform inherits the strengths of past technologies while offering a differentiated safety and efficacy profile—positioning it as a next-generation innovation for the K-Beauty industry.”

Park further emphasized that while establishing trust as a foreign company in China requires time and resources, selection by People’s Daily marks a meaningful first milestone in building long-term credibility.

Originally applied in medical fields such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, the company strategically shifted to cosmetics due to high market growth potential and relatively lower regulatory barriers. Now, backed by solid technology and brand positioning, Mimetics is moving to aggressively scale its presence in the Chinese market.

In the mid-term, the company aims to expand its skincare product lines and enter the medical device and therapeutic markets within the next five years.
Mimetics is positioning itself as an IP-driven platform company, with a vision to build a technology brand comparable to “GORE-TEX” in the global beauty and healthcare industry.
